Sherwood Dental is the source for patients in and around Oakville, seeking the latest in dental health and treatment opportunities. We are pleased to be able to provide patients with a clear coating for the treatment of teeth in adults who find themselves at a higher risk for tooth decay along the gum line. These cavities are especially bothersome due to being difficult to restore, and the increased likelihood of multiple cavities of this type once they begin. Patients should also be aware that this type of tooth decay is associated with an increased risk for other health conditions, particularly for heart disease.
Prevora is a clear coating, containing an antibacterial agent called chlorhexidine, an ingredient which has been safely and effectively used in medical and dental settings for many years. This active ingredient works by killing harmful bacteria that live in a person’s mouth and feed the tooth decay.
A simple “painting on” of the product provides protection and prevention for long periods. The initial treatment is divided into four treatments, applied over a period of eight weeks. After that, only repeat applications are necessary at regular checkups. Over time, a patient will find Prevora to be an affordable option due to cost savings, not to mention less time and inconvenience of treatments for tooth decay.
This product does not affect the color of teeth in any way, and does not disrupt the natural health of the oral environment. Prevora is most often recommended to patients over 40 who are experiencing any of the following conditions:
- Receding gums
- Gum disease
- Dry mouth
- Repeat occurrences of tooth decay
- Multiple fillings or crowns over a recent 10-year period
What our patients say about Prevora anti-cavity protection
I always find Dr. Gaines & his team to be very friendly & professional. I recently had a night guard custom made at Sherwood Dental - the process was fast, easy & Dr. Gaines did a great job custom fitting the guard, which I now use regularly & comfortably! Keep up the great work!! Jane B.
